The 18th Meeting of the ASEAN Cross-Sectoral Coordinating Committee on Disaster Risk, Financing and Insurance (ACSCC-DRFI) convened in Penang, focusing on the ACSCC-DRFI Capacity Building Program, the ASEAN+3 ADRFI 2 Platform, and the ASEAN Cross-Sectoral Working Committee.
The meeting continues with a workshop in the afternoon co-organized by ICRM and ASEC, addressing the challenges of developing risk pools across ASEAN member states, with presentations from various organizations and a panel discussion on risk pooling strategies.
On the same day, The Working Committee ASEAN Banking Integration Framework (WC-ABIF) convened to discuss progress in deepening regional banking sector integration to facilitate intra-regional trade and investment. Delegates engaged in discussions on strategic priorities, key initiatives and roadmaps to foster progressive integration, regulatory coherence and capacity building among ASEAN Member States. These discussions were informed by the emerging trends, financial innovations and level of diversity in regional banking sectors’ readiness on this journey in support of ASEAN's economic aspirations. Overall, the WC-ABIF remains firmly committed towards achieving its priorities this year.
