The Ministry of Finance Malaysia delegation attended the ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies' Meeting – Working Group (AFCDM-WG) and Related Meetings under the ASEAN Philippines Chairship 2026.
Day 1 (12 February 2026):
- Malaysia Ministry of Finance (MMOF) led by YBhg. Dato’ Zamzuri Abdul Aziz, Deputy Secretary-General of Treasury (Policy) held a bilateral with Mr Alvin Lim, Director-General, Singapore Ministry of Finance discussing preparations for Singapore’s 2026 Chairship, ASEAN meeting structures, and advancing the ASEAN Power Grid Financing. In the afternoon, MMOF chaired the Second WG-DRFI, addressing resilience priorities including the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030, Timor-Leste’s accession, ADRFI-2 progress, and a Joint Technical Workshop with SEADRIF. The Capacity Building Roadmap 2027–2030 and revisions to the WG-DRFI Terms of Reference which were initiated under Malaysia's Chaiship was also discussed to strengthen ASEAN’s disaster risk financing framework.
Day 2 (13 February 2026):
- During the AFCDM-WG meeting, MMOF reaffirmed support for sustainable capital markets, regional payments connectivity, and financial health, the 2026 Philippines Priority Economic Deliverables while endorsing the draft Finance Sectoral Plan 2026–2030. MMOF welcomed updates on Project Revive, emphasised resilience-building through cross-sectoral cooperation, and urged acceleration of the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund Action Plan 2025–2028, including catalytic financing for the ASEAN Power Grid. The day concluded with preparations for the upcoming 13th AFMGM, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to ASEAN’s integration and resilience agenda.
