The ASEAN Working Committee on Capital Account Liberalisation (WC-CAL) convened in Penang to discuss key developments in capital flow trends, risks, and safeguard measures. Members shared experiences and insights in the area of capital flows.
The meeting also provided updates on capacity-building initiatives and plans for future collaborations aimed at strengthening technical expertise amongst WC-CAL members.
The meeting also highlighted the progress of local currency transactions and recent enhancements to bilateral frameworks between several member countries. Members exchanged valuable insights on the implementation of local currency transaction frameworks and explored opportunities to promote broader adoption of local currencies within ASEAN. These efforts are integral to supporting regional financial integration.
