Ministry Of Finance Extends Closing Of Cadangan Belanjawan 2024 To 22 September

Following an encouraging response, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) has decided to extend the period for collecting suggestions and feedbacks pertaining to Belanjawan 2024 through the Cadangan Belanjawan 2024 by a week until 22 September 2023.

As of 13 September 2023, the Belanjawan 2024 Tour has traversed the whole country with 9 State Tours led by YB Deputy Ministers 1 and II, plus 24 engagement sessions facilitated by various ministries under the Unity Government.

These sessions have brought in more that 7,000 participants from a raft of backgrounds and expertise that include members of trade chambers, economists, technocrats, non-governmental organisations (NGO), and the public.

Concurrently, the MOF has received over 9,500 responses on the Cadangan Belanjawan 2024 portal.

The responses received from these engagement platforms covered the areas of economic sustainability such as environmental conservation, the green economy, good governance, and digitalisation; improvements in fiscal management; and measures to uplift the existing industries like the creative and tourism industries.

Preparations for Belanjawan 2024 kicked off by the unveiling of Ekonomi MADANI: Empowering the People on 27 July 2023, which doubles as a pre-Budget statement. The framework has set a guidance for the Unity Government’s policy papers to restructure Malaysia’s economy to be set on a new growth trajectory that is dynamic and equitable.

To date, the policy papers launched to complement Ekonomi MADANI: Empowering the People are the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP), and the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan.

These will be followed by Belanjawan 2024 to be tabled by YAB Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 13 October 2023, which shall provide measures and initiatives that will be implemented in Year 2024 towards achieving the targets announced by YAB Prime Minister at the launch of Ekonomi MADANI: Empowering the People.

Post Kuching, the Belanjawan 2024 Tour will proceed to Perak, Selangor, and Labuan before it is set to conclude on 22 September 2023.

All members of the Malaysian public are invited to provide their thoughts and feedbacks on the Cadangan Belanjawan 2024 portal by clicking on the link https://budget.mof.gov.my/ms/.
