Bilateral Engagements of 13th AFMGM

YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II, together with YBhg. Dato’ Sri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, held a series of constructive bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the 13th ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (13th AFMGM). YBhg. Dato’ Zamzuri bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) served as Malaysia’s Head of Delegation at the Deputies’ in the ASEAN Finance Deputy Meeting (AFDM), the ASEAN Finance Deputy and Central Bank Deputies’ Meeting (AFCDM) and the AFCDM +3.

On 9 April 2026, they met with the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) led by Executive Director, Mr. Chris Humphrey. This was followed by an engagement on 10 April 2026 with UK-ASEAN Business Council (UK-ABC) and TheCityUK led by Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ian Gibbons. Meanwhile, YBhg. Dato’ Zamzuri bin Abdul Aziz met with the Australian Treasury on 8 April 2026.

Bilateral discussions focused on navigating current global economic uncertainties, particularly geopolitical tensions and their impact on supply chains, inflation and growth. Malaysia highlighted our resilient economy, supported by strong domestic demand, sustained investments and ongoing structural reforms.
Malaysia expressed appreciation for the valuable insights shared by the EU-ABC, UK-ABC, TheCityUK and Australian Treasury, on financial integration and related priorities. Malaysia also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a stable, predictable, and investment-friendly environment, and looks forward to continued collaboration with ASEAN Member States and global partners to support sustainable and inclusive growth.
