KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- The government is introducing the e-Invoice Voluntary Declaration Programme until Dec 31, 2027,as an additional measure to reduce business compliance costs, especially for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said that any updates, reviews and corrections made voluntarily during the period will not incur penalties from the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.
“Such a decision is uncommon for income tax cases,” he said during the Minister’s Question Time session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was replying to a question from Lee Chuan How (PH-Ipoh Timor) about how the MADANI government is responding to the challenges faced by the business sector, especially MSME entrepreneurs, amid the current global situation, and the government’s initiatives to support MSMEs’ survival.
Anwar said the government also agreed to accelerate tax incentives by allowing full capital allowance claims within one year for eligible expenses incurred in implementing e-Invoice.
“The measure aims to provide appreciation and motivation to taxpayers to fully comply with the implementation of e-Invoice,” he said.
He said that in December 2025, the government had previously increased the income threshold for e-Invoice exemption from RM500,000 to RM1 million, benefiting more than one million tax payers.
