KOTA KINABALU, May 7 – Micro Small and Medium Industries (SME) in Sabah specifically from the rural areas should register with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) of Malaysia to qualify for the Prihatin Special Grant (GKP) of RM3,000, before May 15.
Deputy Finance Minister 1, Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said the registration, could be done online via https://gkp.hasil.gov.my/ by complying with the conditions provided in it.
‘’This is to enable them to obtain a GKP benefit of RM3,000 provided by the federal government.
‘’Thus far, only around 22,940 micro SME companies in Sabah have registered with LHDN. This is only three per cent of the 700,000 micro SME nationwide,’’ he said in a statement here today.
He said a registration of a minimum of 50,000 to 60,000 micro SME had been targeted according to the average distribution following states.
‘’Lack of information due to limited penetration and low internet literacy causes constraints resulting in micro SME in Sabah being slightly left behind.
‘’As such, it is apt if associations representing micro SME traders help to boost the awareness concerned,’’ he added.
